June 2012 Newsletter

DocuTracOn Sunday the 17th of June we honor Fathers. Father’s Day is a celebration of contributions that fathers and father figures make to children’s lives, to communities, and to society.

Why not combine your Father’s day celebration with the celebration of America’s Great Outdoors this year? Get Dad outside and enjoy the benefits of active outdoor fun together! Enjoy our magnificent shared resources of forests, parks, lakes, and other public lands and waters. Spend time with Dad and the family connecting with nature and upholding the legacy of conserving our land for future generations. Presidential recognition of the Great Outdoors was begun in 1998 by President Clinton.

May 2012 Newsletter

DocuTracMay is “Mental Health Awareness Month.” It was started by the support organization, Mental Health America in 1949. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, mental health concerns affect one in ten Americans, but fewer than twenty-five percent with a diagnosable mental disorder will seek treatment. Those of us that promote Mental Health Awareness Month hope to help increase the number of people who will talk to their doctor or a mental health professional about their concerns.

DocuTracWelcome to February. The shortest month of the year is packed with events from crowning the Super Bowl Champions to bestowing honors on the Grammy and Oscar Winners. With this year being Leap Year, we’ll have one more day to also honor the important achievements of African Americans, as we celebrate Black History Month.

All the activities this month tend to provide much needed moments of diversion whether we are working our way through the intricacies of applying for the Meaningful Use Incentive monies, preparing our electronic billing claims to meet the new ANSI 5010 standards or providing your clinical services to more and more people each month.

December 2011 Newsletter

DocuTracMany of us look back longingly to a time when life was simpler. No one can argue that 2011 was a year of far-reaching change in the healthcare industry. We saw the launch of the Meaningful Use Incentive Program designed to promote Electronic Medical Records, and we have all felt the rush to get our billing systems updated to be able to send claims in the new ANSI 5010 format.

2011 has also brought new models of care such as Accountable Care Organizations and Health Homes that many agencies have had to evaluate in the light of their organizational mandates and funding paths.

As we approach the beginning of 2012, the Behavioral Health industry is facing two important deadlines. The first and most publicized is the change from the ANSI 4010 to the new 5010 Standards for filing electronic claims.

The second is the new Medicaid Audit Program. This new program which begins January 1st is modeled after what the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) say is a very successful audit program, the Recovery Audit Contractor Program (RAC).
